Orion printed documents certified free from animal by-products

Following the recent controversy surrounding news that the new Sterling Polymer £5 note contains animal by-products, Orion conducted a thorough investigation into the contents of their local currency notes.
Being market leaders in the UK for local currency note production, Orion were keen to demonstrate that the notes they produced were totally free from any animal products, by-products or derivatives, unlike the new £5 note that caused significant offence to many groups and communities.
It has taken many weeks to receive and collate all the formal responses, as they checked out every material component with its suppliers who then had to go down through their own supply chains to establish the absence of any animal products.
Orion are therefore delighted to announce that all local currency notes they produce contain no animal products, by-products or derivatives.
A petition to ban the new £5 note, hosted on the Change.org website, calls on the Bank of England to “cease to use animal products in the production of currency that we have to use”.
It states that tallow is “unacceptable to millions of vegans, vegetarians, Hindus, Sikhs, Jains and others in the UK”.
A number of Sikh and Hindus have also urged the notes be banned from temples, where meat products are forbidden.
Hindus believe cows are holy and sacred, and many do not wear shoes or carry bags made from the skin of cattle that has been slaughtered. Practising Sikhs are strict vegetarians.
